Sing to Yahweh a new song! Sing to Yahweh, all the earth. Sing to Yahweh! Bless his name! Proclaim his salvation from day to day! Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples. For Yahweh is great, and greatly to be praised! He is to be feared above all gods. Psalms 96:1-4 WEB.
I was so nervous when I took the microphone that evening. At our church, the lead singers in our praise and worship team failed to show up once again. The band members who were there chose me to lead the praise that day. I didn't want to. So I got somewhere quiet, prayed, and I heard the Lord tell me this very clearly. It put me in tears, and it changed how I look at singing praise songs from that day forth. He told me this:
"If one of your children came to you with tears in their eyes and told you how much they loved you and thanked you for all you have done for them. Would you care what their voice sounded like while they were doing it?"
I said, "No."
Then He said, "Neither do I care what you sound like. It's why you do it."
I went back on stage that afternoon and sang to Him, and I've never stopped. I learned to play the keyboard the same way because the piano player wouldn't show up. Today, I use all those skills at Refreshing Hope. So step through the doors the Lord opens for you, and don't let fear hold you back from trying.
David was a praiser, and He wrote most of the psalms in our bible. He loved God, and God loved him. Singing praise songs to God is a big part of our worship. Even Jesus and the disciples sang hymns together (Mark 14:26).
The Lord doesn't care what you sound like while doing it. So shake off the fear of man, lift up your voice, sing praises to Him, and you will see great rewards in your life. Chains will be broken, and depression will flee. It is not how you do it but why. There is something about parents that love to see their children sing, and our Heavenly Father is no different. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart (Psalm 37:4).
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You today and ask that You set me free from the fear of man. Let Your praise rise up inside of me and bubble over. I praise Your wonderful name, and I am so thankful to know You today. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
Note: For those interested, our Wednesday morning prayer service starts at 10:30am EST! This is a short service, about 15-20 minutes, where we pray together for any needs you bring forth. Hope to see y'all there! As always, if you have a prayer need, we are here for you! We and the prayer team are ready to lift you up at our private prayer page: RHM Prayer Network.
Praising through song is one of my favorite. My granddaughter and I are very close. We only listen to a Christian music radio station when driving to our adventures together. Her parents do not have relationships with God. She now has them listening to the Christian music station when in the car! 🙌

I too only listen to Christian Music. I only want to hear uplifting songs that I can sing to the Lord!!
I can relate. For years I went to church and participated in every prayer. The only thing I wouldn't do is sing because I am a terrible singer. One day while in church getting ready for mass. I prayed to the Lord that I wanted to be closer to Him. Clearly I heard praise Him and sing to Him. This was five years ago and I have sang in mass every since that day. I got louder and louder as time went on. Today I feel his presence more, and I can't sing loud enough. I feel His Holy Spirit every Time. It's so wonderful. Amen ❤️
