We sometimes watch a video series called "Alone," where they take people and drop them off in an extremely remote location with a camera and a few items and see how long they can survive. Some people have made it to a hundred days, while others lasted only four hours.
What causes most people to quit is not the lack of food, the bears, wolves, or the extreme cold but loneliness—the fact that they are completely alone. They lose the will to go on. There are breathtaking views, but no one to share them with.
We are not meant to be totally alone for lengthy periods. All creation is designed that way. We once had two pecan trees here. A lone tree will not bear fruit, so there have to be at least two trees relatively close to produce pecans. We would get bushels of pecans from the pair. Then, a hurricane blew one over. The other tree stopped bearing fruit and died.
Creation comes in pairs. Even at the beginning, God knew Adam needed a helper.
(Genesis 2:18 NKJV) And the LORD God said, "It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him."
The Lord formed Adam from the dust of the Earth (Genesis 2:7), and science tells us that the earth contains all of the elements needed to make a human body. Our bodies are taken from the dust and returned to the dust (Genesis 3:19). Yet, instead of forming Eve from dust, the Lord took her out of Adam's side. So Adam would never be whole without his Eve and vice versa.
(Ecclesiastes 4:9–12 NKJV) Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
Two are better than one, for they can accomplish more, comfort one another, help each other, and watch each other's backs. They can also survive difficult times more easily than when alone. When one falls, the other can help them. Solomon speaks here of the importance of two but then says that a 'threefold cord' is not easily broken. It is widely believed that the third cord is God Himself and that a relationship intertwined with God is a cord that is not easily broken.
(Proverbs 27:17 ESV) Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.
The word "man" in this verse is Strongs #346, meaning a human being, male or female. Sylvia and I often bounce ideas off one another and brainstorm together on an issue, and the outcome is better than what one of us would come up with. Two minds working together are better than one.
That is the way God designed His creation: plants, trees, fish, animals, and the birds of the air come in pairs:
(Genesis 7:15 NKJV) And they went into the ark to Noah, two by two, of all flesh in which is the breath of life.
When Jesus sent out His Apostles or Disciples, He always sent them in pairs:
(Mark 6:7 NKJV) And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits.
(Luke 10:1 NKJV) After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.
Jesus pointed out that two people agreeing in prayer could have whatever they asked for, and wherever two or three were gathered in His name, He would be with them.
(Matthew 18:19–20 NKJV) "Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them."
There is great power in prayer agreement, and two are better than one in so many ways.

Thanking the Lord ahead of time for answering my prayers for my siblings, because this is a prayer according to His holy will, for HE doesn't want anyone to perish, but have eternal life through His holy Son! 🙏
