Whatever you will ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you will ask anything in my name, I will do it. John 14:13–14 WEB.
It was another cold, dreary morning at work. After several months of unemployment, I got a job polishing brass plumbing parts on a buffing wheel. When I was laid off from my last job, I was a supervisor, but I longed to work in a Christian environment. So when the job ended, I knew the Lord was directing my path, but then He put me in the darkest hole in the wall I had ever seen.
My day started at 4 AM, and I worked my way through Bible college at night. I listened to an audio Bible all day with headphones so I could do well on my tests. This particular morning, I was cold, miserable, and hungry from fasting. I felt like an outsider in the middle of this crowd. People cussed all day, openly did drugs, and shared them with each other at their buffing machines. If the manager noticed, he joined them.
In the break room, they bragged about the affairs they had the night before. Everyone seemed angry all the time. Even the manager came to work every morning with a hangover and a bad attitude. It wasn't the Christian environment I had been looking forward to, but it was right where God placed me.
About 5 AM one morning, the guy working beside me had a giant ghetto blaster and was blasting death metal so loud that I could feel my shirt moving from the vibrations. I couldn't even hear the Bible through my headphones with full volume. Finally, the Spirit within me had all it could take of the depressing environment. Something in me snapped, and I heard myself suddenly say:
"I claim this place in the name of Jesus Christ and declare it Holy ground!"
It was like the Holy Spirit had spoken directly through me. I was surprised and wondered where that came from. You couldn't have heard my voice over the death metal, but those words had a stunning effect on the environment.
In less than an hour, the guy with the death metal packed up his radio and quit. I never saw him again. Soon after, they fired the manager and promoted me to his position. Everyone that stayed there gave their heart to Jesus and began to attend church together. We would gather in a circle and have prayer before we started to work.
When I went to church, I filled my entire row with visitors. Everyone at work began borrowing my Bible CDs until we just started playing it over the intercom all day. Scriptures were taped everywhere. "Miracle Finishing" had become a Christian environment.
I can't explain it, but I experienced it. The Lord put me in a very dark place, then sparked a mini-revival around me. The Holy Spirit spoke words of faith through me, and it changed the environment at my workplace. There is a time to take a stand and say: "That's not happening. Not on my watch!"
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please guide me and teach me when to take a stand. Cause me to carry your fire and anointing into the places I go. Lord, when they meet me, may they meet You. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
