When he had sat down at the table with them, he took the bread and gave thanks. Breaking it, he gave it to them. Their eyes were opened and they recognized him; then he vanished out of their sight. They said to one another, "Weren't our hearts burning within us while he spoke to us along the way, and while he opened the Scriptures to us?" Luke 24:30-32 WEB.
The amplifier buzzed as I unplugged my bass guitar and put it in its case. Thirty minutes earlier, I had been enjoying the party along with everyone else. Then I said goodbye to everyone. I went home and into a room alone, shut the door, laid on the carpet, and repented of everything I could remember. It was a lot.
No one had to preach to me or tell me to change my ways. I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt. It was as if the Lord let me see myself from His point of view for a brief moment. I immediately had a burning desire to know the Lord inside me that I cannot explain. My whole life changed that night. He replaced my old desires with new ones. I began to pray, fast, and read the Bible. I understood what Paul meant when he said that he counted all of his accomplishments as dung. He left them behind and never looked back.
If you want to bring someone to the Lord, show them love. Don't point out their faults as they are irrelevant. When they come to Jesus, and He gets hold of their heart, they will change so quickly you will wonder what happened. Nothing else will matter when God causes their hearts to burn within them. Nothing will hold them back.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please light the fire within me. Cause my heart to burn for You and make Your plan for my life clear. Fire me up, God. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
