For he satisfies the longing soul. He fills the hungry soul with good Psalms 107:9 WEB
Temporary pleasures offer temporary satisfaction but often come with longterm repercussions. There are so many things in our lives that promise or would appear to provide satisfaction, but they all fall short of it in the long run.
You can eat a good meal, but you will soon be hungry again. Buying something new is temporarily satisfying, but then you have to pay for it. Sex is good by nature, though with the wrong one disastrous, and either way, you are soon empty. You can marry the most loving person on earth, but you will be alone again if you live long enough.
Life is full of temporary pleasures, and most of these things are great, but Jesus is the cement that holds our lives together. There is no lasting satisfaction without a relationship with Him. Jesus can fill that empty spot where something has been missing and make what you already have even better. He can fix things you don't even know are broken and give you something that will last for eternity, which can never be taken away.
I have found that the closer I walk with God, the more satisfying the rest of my life becomes. And when I start to become distanced, I become unhappy. I am astounded by the love that He has for us and how perfect His plans come together in our lives when we take the time to make Him part of it.
God has a plan for each of us, and He can fill the empty places in our lives. If we need something, He can bring it about. The Lord is better than we can imagine, and if we only put Him first in our lives, the rest will fall into place. When you delight in Him, He will give you the true desires of your heart.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You so much for all that You do for me. Please fill the empty places in my life and reshape my desires. Teach me to live and walk in Your presence every day. I want more of You in my life today, in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
