Yahweh appeared of old to me, saying, Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn you. Jeremiah 31:3 WEB
So many times in my life, I have felt that I let God down, failed Him, and then stopped even trying. "What was the use", I thought. I was a failure and He was disappointed in me anyway. Like a puppy with his tail between his legs, I would sulk and walk away. Sometimes a month would go by before I even spoke to Him again.
When I finally came to my senses, saw the light, and had a 'I was blind, but now I see' moment, He was always there waiting with open arms. Just as the prodigal son that came to his senses and went back home to his father, so was I. The moment that I changed my attitude, accepted that the past was unchangeable, He was ready to get back to work. It was always an 'OK, now let's go' moment.
God is not concerned about our past. He is concerned with what is left of our future and making every moment count. Our life here is only a brief moment in time and if we really understood that, most of us would live it differently. We try and build things here that will last forever, when everything around us is temporary.
He draws us to Himself with loving kindness and His love for us is everlasting. Nothing that you can do or have done will change His love for you. On the other hand, can you discipline a child and still love them? Absolutely. Jesus said, 'Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.' (Revelation 3:19). Paul wrote that God's kindness is intended to lead you to repentance (Romans 2:4).
Our past life may have some dark spots, but He will never turn away from us. He will always love us and when we ask, He will gladly forgive us and restore us, for His love is everlasting. He has a plan and a purpose for your life and you were put here for such a time as this, so make it count.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank You for Your everlasting love. Thank You for accepting me just as I am and washing me as white as snow. Cleanse me, use me, guide me today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
