Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great things, and difficult, which you don't know. Jeremiah 33:3 WEB.
When Jesus saw the crowds, He had compassion for them, for they were lost and without a Shepherd. He would stop, teach, and heal them. With a touch, He would heal their wounds. Jesus said several times in His teachings that He was the good Shepherd and that He came to seek out and save the lost sheep.
Jesus is always there and just a prayer away from each of us. You can stop right where you are and invite Jesus into your situation. You don't have to face anything alone. When you do not know the answer to the problem, He does. So many times in my life, He has put me in a "tight spot" with no one else to turn to but Him. Praying "God Help Me" was a daily occurrence. I realize now that He was trying to build my faith and teach me to trust Him.
When He began to push me into my own computer business, people I had never heard of suddenly started calling me to come work on their computers. If I would only go, He would use me to fix it. The work began simple enough but grew more complex with every call like I was being trained in a class. The jobs became increasingly more difficult. He enabled me to repair computer networks when I had never seen one before. He taught me how to repair corrupted networked databases and to write custom software as needed. This was long before the Internet became a resource and before we had cell phones. I had no one to call for advice anyway. While working in the field, it was just Him and me.
Time after time, He would push me into situations that were so far above my abilities that they caused me to "almost" panic, with no one else to turn to but Him. He would put me on the spot with everyone looking to me for the answer. I constantly prayed under my breath and, time after time, watched the problem resolve itself. After years of this, I learned thoroughly that your abilities are irrelevant. Everything hinges on getting in tune with Him and what He has called you to do.
He anoints the one He calls to do the job He gives them, and He often chooses the least qualified among us. Peter, James, and John were common, uneducated fishermen. I grew up on a farm feeding hogs, and the only computer I had ever seen was on television. I quit school and was married by seventeen and worked as a common laborer in construction, but then God said: "He's going to be on My tech team."
The key is to humbly lean on Him for advice, wisdom, and knowledge, knowing that we can't do it without Him. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would teach us "all" things. "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you" (John 14:26).
I have learned that "all" literally means "all," everything. In the original text, the word for "all" is "pas" and means "All, any, every, the whole, thoroughly, whatsoever." Many view God as an ancient being out of tune with modern times, a relic from the past, but I can tell you from experience that He is the exact opposite. He knows everything that is coming in the future as well. He shares new inventions and ideas with people and knows far more than we can comprehend. He invented the atom that we "discover" and created the stars that we give names to.
God is on the cutting edge from generation to generation, and it's us who are trying to catch up and understand Him, not vice versa. He speaks to me in technical jargon and programming code at times that's so deep yet, so simple. I stand in awe of Him. It's me wearing the dunce hat, not Him. He teaches me.
God invites us to ask Him for help: "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him" (James 1:5).
So if you are wandering through life today and feel a bit lost, look to Jesus, who is just a prayer away. He is already seeking you. He is "The Good Shepherd" and cares for His sheep. He will be as involved in your life as you allow Him to be. When you face a scary situation, call on Him.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I pray that You increase my wisdom and let me find my true purpose. Reveal the things holding me back and give me the grace to deal with them. Please help me break out, breakthrough, and take me to the next level. God help me. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
