Prospering Under Pagans

Pharaoh said to his servants, "Can we find such a one as this, a man in whom is the Spirit of God?" Pharaoh said to Joseph, "Because God has shown you all of this, there is no one so discreet and wise as you. You shall be over my house. All my people will be ruled according to your word. Only in the throne I will be greater than you." Genesis 41:38'40 WEB.

While serving a prison sentence in Egypt for a false accusation of attempted rape, Joseph was summoned to appear before Pharaoh. Even though he was innocent, Joseph had spent years in prison, and it now seemed he would be executed. I am sure these thoughts passed through his mind. "Why else would Pharaoh summon me? They certainly hanged that baker'."

After shaving and changing his clothes, Joseph was brought in before Pharaoh. He probably breathed a sigh of relief when Pharaoh said, "I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it." Fortunately, Joseph had the gift of dream interpretation operating in his life.

Joseph used his God-given gift to interpret the dream for Pharaoh and was then put in charge of the land of Egypt. Daniel was used by God and promoted to rule over Babylon (Daniel 2:48). Mordecai was used by God to reveal corruption in the government. Then made the one in charge of Persia (Esther 10:3). His niece Esther became the queen (Esther 2:17).

All of these people were slaves, prisoners, and exiles living in foreign lands. They lived in pagan nations that followed other gods and idols. Yet, they thrived because they served God Almighty. Our God can make us shine above the rest when we listen to Him. He can protect and prosper you no matter what laws they pass. The Lord can make you succeed even when ruled by pagans.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please work Your will in my life today. Teach me to hear Your voice, and give me the grace to carry it out. Stir up the gifts You have given me, and teach me to use them. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray. Amen!
