You shall not be scared of them; for Yahweh your God is in the midst of you, a great and awesome God. Deuteronomy 7:21 WEB
Moses called the Israelites together right before they entered the promised land, and he told them to not be afraid, for the Lord who is in the midst of you, is a great and 'Awesome' God.
The definition of Awesome: adjective - breathtaking, awe-inspiring, magnificent, wonderful, amazing, stunning, staggering, imposing, stirring, impressive; formidable, fearsome, dreaded; mind-boggling, mind-blowing, jaw-dropping, excellent, marvelous; wondrous. Awesome is the opposite of unimpressive.
I love the word Awesome; it seems to be one of the few words that I know that can even come close to describing our Heavenly Father, and I try to reserve it just for that purpose. Can you use the same words to describe a movie actor, or a car, that you would to describe the One who created heaven and Earth? If you measure everything as a ten out of ten, then you are left with a broken, meaningless scale.
Moses was right, for God had proven Himself Awesome time after time in their lives. He had sent miraculous plagues on Egypt until they decided that it would be better for everyone if they released His people from slavery (Exodus 13:15). In the desert, He went before them as a cloud by day to give them shade, and a pillar of fire at night to give them warmth (Exodus 13:21). He parted the sea so that they could cross safely (Exodus 14:21). He fed them mana from heaven for forty years, and their clothing did not wear out (Nehemiah 9:21).
God is Awesome, so do not fear what may come. Instead remember that our Father is the breathtaking, mind-boggling, mind-blowing, jaw-dropping, Awesome God that created the universe, and He is well able to take care of you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Awesome God of heaven and earth, I thank You for being there for me. Please walk with me this day, help me make the right decisions, guide me into all that You have for me here. I put my trust in You today, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen!
