Moses said to the people, 'Don't be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of Yahweh, which he will work for you today: for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall never see them again. Yahweh will fight for you, and you shall be still.' Exodus 14:13 WEB
Standing on the shore of the Red Sea with their back to the water, a group of unarmed former slaves stared out at the most powerful army in the world at that time, the Egyptians. Their enemy came upon them and were equipped with the latest weaponry, as well as heavily armored chariots. While the Israelites were on foot, carrying their children, and their belongings. It looked like a one sided battle.
This army had to be a terrifying sight for the Israelite families, but as they stood there Moses told them: 'Fear not, stand firm. The army that you see here today, you will never see again.'
Moses raised his arms and the Red Sea parted. The Israelites crossed over on dry ground, and the Egyptian army followed them in, but the wheels came off their chariots and bogged them down. When all the Israelites were safely on the other side, the water closed over the Egyptian army, and that was the last time that the Israelites saw them. When they needed it most, God came through for them. It was a one sided battle.
Once upon a time our computer business dried completely up. After several months of frantically seeking work, our finances completely ran out, and our credit card maxed out. The week that we prepared to move out of our home, while we were trying to decide what to take with us and what to sell, I went into my prayer room and sat down.
I no longer had the strength to pray anymore, and I was all out of tears. Those days, I just kind of sat there in the quiet to gather my thoughts. I had complained to the Lord that He had abandoned me. I had been serving Him with my whole heart, soaking, laying on my face in prayer, fasting, giving, but yet things grew worse each day.
While sitting there that morning, without saying a word, the Lord gave me an open vision. It looked like a movie screen appeared before my eyes and I watched a scene play out on it. In the vision, the Lord told me: 'You are not alone. For I am in your corner, and I have prepared you for this day. Now get in there and fight!'
By the end of the week I was a pastor. Then a friend suddenly stepped in and paid all of our bills for the month. Almost overnight, everything had changed for us. It was a 'pinch yourself to be sure that you are awake' moment. When we needed it the most, God came through for us.
When your back is to the wall, trust God. He is more than enough. Though it be eleven-fifty-nine on the clock, He will come through. Later when you are looking back, this will be a part of your testimony. Faith is tested by staring directly into the face of fear, with no one to trust but Him. It may be rough for a while, but you will be stronger when you come out the other side.
Prayer: Heavenly Father I know that You have got my back. Nothing happens to me without You knowing it, and I don't understand a lot of things, but I choose to trust in You. Deliver me from my enemies Lord. Set me free from my chains, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
Note: The highlighted group of the week is Dreams: Meaning and Purpose, a private group (all are welcome, but only group members see the posts), for discussion and interpretation of dreams. We have found that God often will speak to us via dreams to teach us and to prophecy His vision for our lives and for the body of Christ! ALSO, the Creation Photographers theme of the week is "Motivational Moments", based on James 1:2-4 "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." As always, you are free to post anything else that inspires you, too!
