When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. In God, I praise his word. In God, I put my trust. I will not be afraid. What can flesh do to me? Psalms 56:3 WEB
Tired and needing a rest, David had been on the run from Saul. His own father-in-law was seeking to kill him out of pure jealousy. Everything that David owned, he had to leave behind him. Now he was seeking refuge in Gath, a Philistine city whom Israel had been at war with for years. David felt that the whole world was against him, and while living here in the midst of enemies that wanted to kill him only slightly less, he wrote this Psalm.
David went on to be king and lived a very prosperous life after this season, so my point is this: do not give up in the middle of the fight. You never meet anyone truly great that does not have a story. Stay positive, keep on praying, believing, hoping and God will bring you through the bad times. The end can be better than the beginning (Eccl. 7:8). Trials are confined to a limited season. They don't last forever.
When the whole world turns against you and you are afraid, God is more than enough. When you place your trust in Him you cannot go wrong. The problems may loom over you like a dark cloud, but He can bring the sunshine again. When your job ends, He can bring you a better one. When they no longer want you around, He will bring you to a place where you belong and surround with those that do. He who trusts in God will not be moved. In God I trust.
Prayer: Father, I put my trust in You. I will remain steadfast and not bow to fear with You by my side. I know that You are there to catch me if I fall. Fulfill Your perfect will in my life and lead me into all that You have for me, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.
